"O Sultan of existence
who made our hearts knowledgeable of his hidden beauty! A thousand times they tried to
define you, from a long time ago until now, how many glass from the Kausar of
your love they have give for the people who are thirsty for your love!
Can the owner of this faint voice (he means him self), who his voice is like
the tone of a broken Rababa that was played by a helpless hand, say something
next to the magical tunes from the bright souls who are walking on the rode
that leads to you?
However, we turn to your kindness, to your forgiveness and to your generosity
that gave the people the freedom of speech. Therefore, we are here. Standing in
front of your door with the princes of statement and rhetoric. We hide our
faces with veils because of our shyness saying: This is our modest melody. We
say this and ask for your pardon and forgiveness."
Fethullah Gülen
This prayer was translated from Turkish to Arabic. And I translated it from Arabic to English because I love it.
I agree, that's really beautiful! I had not heard of this writer/theologian before. I would remove the parenthetical, "(he means himself)." I think the prayer speaks for itself. Nice translation!
